Openness is crucial for Stephanie Lane. The gestural impact of asphaltum on the pristine surface renders the tension between bold to hairlike lines. The paintings/ drawings wouldn't work any other way. There is no recognizable beginning or end to the dance of the hidden body, these are self-portraits of the artist in motion. We forget about gravity and bouncy with the silk reeling speed neither too fast or slow. The non-image suspended in the central position, fluidity spins on itself with no reference to the edge.
